MOORESVILLE TOWN COUNCIL <br />RESOLUTION NO. 15-2021 <br />RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE PROTECTION OF RIGHTS TO BEAR ARMS <br />WHEREAS, the Town of Mooresville maintains a strong commitment to <br />supporting and protecting the rights and liberties guaranteed to its residents under the <br />Constitutions of the United States and State of Indiana. <br />WHEREAS, the Second Amendment to the United States constitution states "A <br />well -regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep <br />and bear arms shall not be infringed." <br />WHEREAS, Article I, Section 32 of the Indiana Constitution states "The people shall <br />have a right to bear arms, for the defense of themselves and the State." <br />WHEREAS, the Town of Mooresville opposes the adoption of any law, ordinance, <br />rule, regulation, governmental action, or other similar restriction intended to limit and <br />infringe upon the Constitutional Rights of residents of the Town of Mooresville to keep <br />and bear arms as guaranteed by the United States and Indiana Constitutions. <br />IT IS THEREFORE RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Mooresville <br />that: <br />1. The Town of Mooresville, Indiana is hereby declared to be a "Second <br />Amendment Sanctuary." <br />2. The Town of Mooresville supports and intends to protect the rights granted <br />and guaranteed to its residents under the Second Amendment of the United States <br />Constitution and Article I, Section 32 of the Indiana Constitution. <br />3. The Town of Mooresville intends to oppose and prevent the expenditure of <br />any public funds for purposes serving to promote the unconstitutional infringement <br />upon any Mooresville resident's right to keep and bear arms. <br />
