1018 <br /> January 3,2012 <br /> The Mooresville Town Council met in regular session on Tuesday, January 3,2012 at <br /> 6:30 P. M. at the Mooresville Government Center. <br /> Council members present: President George Watkins,Vice-President Mark Mathis, Jeff <br /> Cook, and Tony Langley. All members were present. The fifth seat has not been filled <br /> as of yet. Town attorney Tim Currens was present. Clerk-Treasurer Sandra Perry was <br /> present. <br /> Council President George Watkins gave the prayer. <br /> A motion was made by Councilman Langley with a second by Councilman Mathis to <br /> approve the minutes of December 20, 2011. Motion carried 4-0. [ '- <br /> The council showed by a raising of hands to confirm the re-organization for 2013 with <br /> George Watkins as President and Mark Mathis as Vice-President./'s ulrxs VO" f", <br /> G 719 <br /> A motion was made by Councilman Cook with a second by Councilman Langley to J <br /> approve Ordinance#1, 2012, on the first reading amending the salary ordinances with <br /> changes to the percentage to be paid for Police and Fire Pension 19.7% and Civilian <br /> Pension 14.5%,pay rate decrease for part-time billing clerk, and making the storm water <br /> supervisor say salary instead of hourly due to no payment for overtime. Motion carried <br /> 4-0. <br /> A motion was made to approve pay request#14 in the amount of$391,544.90 to Wilhelm <br /> Construction for WWTP expansion. Motion carried 4-0. <br /> Council President received two letters for an appointment to the Police Commission. A <br /> motion was made by Councilman Cook with a second by Councilman Langley to replace <br /> Charles'Berwick with Steve Fitzpatrick. Motion carried 4-0. <br /> Council President expressed thanks to Charles Berwick for his twelve years of service on <br /> the Police Commission. <br /> Four bids were opened for the Merriman Road sewer and water project. The bids were <br /> read and then Mr. Holloway inspected the bids and a vote was taken. <br /> JDH Construction: $479,565.00 <br /> Atlas Excavating: 492,655.00 <br /> Reed& Sons Const. 399,708.00 <br /> Yardberry Exc. 530,599.00 <br /> A motion was made by Councilman Mathis with a second by Councilman Cook to accept <br /> Reed and Sons bid for$399,708.00,the lowest bid. Motion carried 3-1 with Councilman <br /> Langley opposed. <br /> Appointments for 2012: Plan Commission: Perry King and Ann Whaley are invited <br /> back. <br /> A motion was made by Councilman Langley with a second by Councilman Cook to <br /> appoint George Watkins and Mark Mathis to the Morgan County Economic Development <br /> Corporation. Motion carried. <br /> A motion was made by Councilman Mathis with a second by Councilman Langley to re- <br /> up George Watkins and Harold Gutzwiller. Motion carried. The other vacancy is from <br /> the resignation of Brian Nelson and that is a Presidential appointment. Motion carried 4-0. <br /> There being no further business to come before the Mooresville Town Council at this <br /> time a motion was made by Councilman Langley with a second by Councilman Watkins <br /> to adjourn the meeting.
