Motion carried. <br /> Motion was made by Steve Edwards and second by Mike Fiscus to <br /> reappoint Warren Franklin Sewer Superintendent. <br /> Warren Franklin reported that the weather has not affected the <br /> operation of the sewer plant to this point. <br /> Police chief George Ditton informed the board that Greg <br /> Staum has rejoined the Mooresville Police Department after a <br /> short time of employment at the Morgan County Sheriff's Depart- <br /> ment. chief Ditton also stated he is looking for a crossing guard <br /> to patrol the school crossing at Newby Elementary School. <br /> Park Superintendent Brent Callahan advised the board that <br /> the debris from the maintenance building at Pioneer Park which <br /> was destroyed in the wind storm in December would be removed <br /> within the next two weeks as he is waiting for the insurance <br /> company to make a final determination on the damages. <br /> It was reported that there were fifty-five (55) burials in <br /> the town cemetery in 1987. <br /> <br /> Trustee Mike Fiscus discussed with the board the possibility <br /> of purchasing new chairs for Town Hall. Trustee Fiscus asked the <br /> board to inspect the chairs in Judge Knight's office to see if <br /> this was the type of chair the board would like. A decision on <br /> this matter would be made at the next meeting. Trustee Fiscus <br /> informed the board that Sandy Mc Mahan has been hired to clean <br /> Town Hall. <br /> <br /> President Forbes informed the board that the Town Court re- <br /> solved 3,689 cases in 1987 with fines totaling $45,525.86. <br /> After a short recess, Street Commissioner Joe Beikman in- <br /> formed the board that he felt the bid from Reid Holcomb for a <br /> John Deere Front End Loader Model W20C in the amount of <br /> $58,921.50 would best serve the needs of the town. <br /> Motion was made by Pat Overholser and second by Richard <br /> Heald to accept the bid from Reid-Holcomb for a John Deere <br /> Front End Loader Model W20C. Motion carried. <br /> President Jack Forbes appointed a committee to develop <br /> the criteria for the position of Economic Development Director. <br /> The committee consists of chairman Pat Overholser and vice <br /> chairman Steve Edwards. <br /> The board thanked the street department for the new christmas <br /> decorations and commended them on their attractiveness and <br /> durability. <br /> <br /> President Forbes inquired about the Revenue Sharing Funds <br /> appropriated in the 1988 budget for the senior center. Board <br /> attorney Tim Currens advised the board that the funds would be <br /> dispersed to the senior center as soon as possible. <br /> Motion was made by Steve Edwards to approve the bills and <br /> claims.
