Mooresville Metropolitan Police Department Board of Police Commissioners Larry Bryant Fred Settle Danny Lundy MOORESVILLE POLICE COMMISSION MINUTES These are the Minutes of the regularly scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Police Commission held at the Mooresville Police Department on April 18, 2019. MEMBERS PRESENT: Larry Bryant, Fred Settle, Danny Lundy ALSO PRESENT: Chief Allen, Charles Braun, Anthony Woodside, Ronald Cooper, Tom Warthen, Amanda Carvell Call to order at 6:00 PM. Danny Lundy made a motion to accept the minutes from the March meeting. Fred Settle seconded. No discussion. Motion passed unanimously. Chief Allen updated the Police Commission on the status of the new police department. Chief Allen advised that they still had several IT items that needed to be installed and are hoping to have a move in date within 30-60 days. Chief Allen updated the Police Commission on the hiring process (that began in 2018). The three remaining applicants went to the complete their physicals earlier in the week (2 on the 16`h of April and 1 on the 17`h of April). Once the physicals are complete and have been sent to the department, a local pension board meeting will be conducted so that they can approve the three applicants. The local pension board meeting must be posted 48 hours in advance before the meeting. Chief Allen updated the Police Commission on the hiring process (that began in 2019). He advised that closing date for applications was May 3`d but he had already received one application that would be considered a lateral transfer. Chief Allen asked the Police Commission for permission to expedite the process for any laterals that applied with our department. Danny Lundy made a motion to expedite the process for any laterals. Fred Settle seconded the motion. No discussion. Motion passed unanimously. Chief Allen updated the Police Commission on the statistics for the month of March. Danny Lundy advised the Police Commission that he would like to do employee surveys to see what they can do to keep the officers that are currently working at our department. After hearing from Tom Warthen, Ronald Cooper and Charles Braun, it was suggested that an executive meeting would be best to iron out the details of the employee surveys. Fred Settle made a motion to hold an executive session to discuss the employee surveys. Danny Lundy seconded the motion. There was some discussion. Motion passed unanimously.
