TOWN OF MOORESVILLE <br />ORDINANCE 7-2021 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING <br />THE TOWN OF MOORESVILLE'S POLICE RESERVE PROGRAM <br />WHEREAS, the Town of Mooresville (the "Town") is a political subdivision <br />existing under the provisions of Indiana Code § 36-4-1, et. seq.; <br />WHEREAS, the Mooresville Town Council (the "Council") is the governing body <br />of the Town; <br />WHEREAS, the Town is granted the authority through Indiana Code § 36-8-3-20 <br />to establish a police reserve program ("Reserve Program"); <br />WHEREAS, on April 18, 2000, the Town adopted Ordinance 3-2000 and created <br />the Reserve Program, which has been successfully providing additional protection for <br />the Towns residents for more than twenty years; <br />WHEREAS, the Town continues to believe it is in the best interests of the <br />community to maintain the Reserve Program; however, the Town recognizes the need to <br />amend the ordinance to ensure compliance with state law; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Mooresville Town Council as <br />follows: <br />1. Police reserve officers may not be members of the regular police <br />department but have all of the same police powers as regular members, except as limited <br />by the rules of the department, in accordance with § 36-8-3-20, as amended. <br />2. Police reserve officers must follow all Department Rules and Regulations, <br />Policies and Standard Operating Procedures. <br />3. There shall be five (5) officers in the Reserve Program, unless Council <br />determines during the annual budget process that more or less are needed. <br />
