Mooresville Metropolitan <br />Police Department <br />Board of Police Commissioners <br />Ernie Wilson <br />Fred Settle <br />MOORESVILLE POLICE COMMISSION MINUTES <br />These are the Minutes of the regularly scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Police Commission <br />held at the Mooresville Police Department on May 20, 2021. <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Fred Settle, Ernie Wilson, Christopher Hobbick <br />ALSO PRESENT: Chief Kevin Julian, Attorney Charles Braun, PIO Brock Chipman <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:00 PM. <br />Ernie Wilson made a motion to accept the minutes from the April 15th meeting. Fred Settle <br />seconded. No discussion. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Chief Julian introduced the new Police Commissioner, Christopher Hobbick <br />There was no old business from the Police Commissioners. <br />Chief Julian advised that his only old business was the Police Officer's Bill of Rights. Attorney <br />Charles Braun stated that he was not finished with the document, but he would email the <br />commission and Chief Julian in two weeks the final draft. This way the final draft could possibly <br />be approved at the next meeting. <br />Chief Julian presented the Police Commission with SOP 30.05, Destroying Animals. Chief <br />Julian stated that be made the changes to the SOP that was presented to him by Attorney Charles <br />Braun. Chief Julian asked that this SOP be approved at this time. Ernie Wilson made a motion to <br />accept the SOP as written. Christopher Hobbick seconded. There was some discussion. Motion <br />passed unanimously. <br />Chief Julian presented the Police Commisson and Attorney Braun will all the SOP's on a flash <br />drive. <br />Chief Julian updated the Police Commission on the status of the three current probationary <br />officers. <br />Chief Julian advised that they had a candidate to fill the 22"d officer slot. He passed the <br />background and will proceed to the oral interview at the department. Fred Settle stated that he <br />would like to meet the officer. Settle also stated that the commission in the past has always went <br />with the recommendation of the police interview board. Chief Julian stated that they could have <br />an executive session before the regular meeting of the commissioners and then he could present <br />the hiring of the officer at the regular meeting. Attorney Braun agreed. <br />
