Still, because the water was absorbed by the ground and did not enter the sewer <br />system, they wish for an additional adjustment to bring the bill down to their average bill cost. <br />Councilman Swinney made a motion to approve the credit for $288.29, second by Councilman <br />Williams. Motion carried 5-0. <br />Department Head Reports — <br />Chief Buckner reported that he has been in constant contact with Motorola about the body <br />cams. He is in the process of finishing a Sergeant promotion from a pool of four candidates. In <br />addition, they are making their way through the police officer applicants' interview, but the <br />background and home interviews have taken some time to complete. He presented the street <br />closure permit to the council for the 2023 street fairs. He did say that he would like to see <br />hardened barriers, a dump truck, or a bus used to shut down the main streets in the future for <br />public safety. <br />Chief Dalton stated that he attended the Indiana Police and Fire Fighters' line of duty wall in <br />honor of Chief Tim Medsker last week. He will be traveling with three firefighters to represent <br />the Town to Emmitsburg, Maryland, to visit the National Fallen Firefighter Memorial in honor of <br />Chief Tim Medsker. <br />Legal — <br />INDOT Local Agreement—The Redevelopment Commission agreed to pick up the cost for the <br />decorative traffic light poles at SR 42 and Monroe Street. Town Council members are required <br />to approve the agreement. Councilman Swinney motioned to approve the agreement, <br />seconded by Councilman Williams. The motion carried 4-0-1, with Councilman Stanley <br />abstaining. <br />Public Comments — <br />There were none. <br />Approval of Claims - <br />A motion to approve the payment of claims in the amount of $627,327.71 was made by <br />Councilman Stanley, second by Councilman Swinney. Motion carried 5-0. <br />Town Council Comments— <br />Councilman Cook presented an estimate from Banning Engineering for title searches for the <br />Carlisle and Monroe Street project. Attorney Lee will review the agreement and present it at <br />the October 18 meeting. <br />Councilman Williams thanked Dave Moore for finding the contractor who demolished the <br />1 & 3 E Main Street building and commended the job that has been done. He also mentioned <br />that he has been receiving complaints about the intersection of Jefferson and Harrison, as there <br />have been numerous accidents, one as recent as Friday, September 30. He would like to see <br />about reevaluating with the traffic engineer. <br />Councilman Swinney congratulated Council President Warthen on the arrival of his new <br />Grandchild. <br />
