MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF METROPOLITAN POLICE <br /> COMMISSIONERS MEETING <br /> NOVEMBER 20, 2003 <br /> <br /> The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance. In attendance were <br /> Commissioners; Dr. Knierim, Chuck Berwick, and Dean Kays. Also, Tim Currens and <br /> Sgt. Combs. <br /> <br /> Dr. Knierim welcomed everyone to the November 20, 2003 Mooresville Police <br /> Commissioners Meeting. <br /> <br /> Chuck Berwick motioned to accept the minutes fi.om the last meeting. Dean Kays <br /> seconded. <br /> <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> Hiring Process-Background checks are being done on 6 people. It will be approximately <br /> 2-3 more weeks before these are complete. The next available openings for ILEA are not <br /> until April 2004. The commissioners would like to do the interviews the first part of <br /> January. They will announce who they would like to hire at the January Commissioners <br /> Meeting. <br /> <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br />The letter fi.om Attorney Charlie Braun, concerning Larry Mason was discussed. Chuck <br />Berwick motioned to sign the letter. After a brief discussion, Dean Kays seconded the <br />motion to accept the letter. <br /> <br />Performance Evaluations were discussed. Details have not been finalized as of yet. Lt. <br />Paris is heading this up. <br /> <br />Lt. Forbes position was discussed. He could be gone for another 1-2 years. The <br />Commissions questioned whether or not we can move someone into that position <br />temporally, while he is gone. <br /> <br />The Detective position was discussed. The commissioners want to know when someone <br />will be appointed to that position and whether or not it will be a Sergeants position also. <br /> <br />The next meeting will be December 18th, 2003 <br /> <br />Commissioner Berwick motioned to adjourn. Commissioner Kays seconded. <br /> <br /> <br />
