Councilman Shields stated that al <br />trying to do is make any trucks that are just passing through stay on thelstate highlways. <br />He stated that he felt that if they were just making a local delivery they should just use <br />the closest route possible and then get back to the highway as soon as possible. President <br />Warthen will discuss with Joe Beikman haw they want to handle local deliveries and the <br />truck routes will be discussed at the next meeting. <br />Attorney, Tim Currens presented the Council with the site lease agreement with Nextel <br />Communications for the placement of a cell tower. It is for $700 per month with an <br />increase if it is renewed. It will take effect once the tower is in place. <br />A motion to approve the contract with Nextel Communications was made by Councilman <br />Clark, second by Councilman Shields. Motion carried 4-0. <br />Tim Currens presented the Council with an ordinance to amend Ordinance #3-2000, <br />which increases the minimum amount of training required for reserve officers, making it <br />consistent with the standing operating guidelines on the amount of training they should <br />have. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Clark, second by Councilman Dolen to approve <br />Ordinance #10-2005. Motion carried ~-0. <br />The next item was an ordinance to establish a Safety Cantrol Zone, which allows the <br />police to control a crime scene. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Clark, second by Councilman Shields to approve <br />Ordinance #l 1-2005. Motion carried 4-0. <br />The next item was the Confirmatory Resolution for athree-year tax abatement on Real <br />Property far TOA fora 12,000 square feet expansion to their building. The cost of the <br />project is approximately $1.3 million. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Clark, second by Councilman Dolen to approve <br />Resolution #13-2005. Motion carried 4-0. <br />The next item was the Confirmatory Resolution for Prodigy Group for athree-year tax <br />abatement on personal property. Jahn Taylor, Morgan County EDC Director, explained <br />that Prodigy Group is purchasing two to three pieces of equipment, totaling $25G,000. <br />A motion to approve Resolution #14-2005 was made by Councilman Clark, and second <br />by Councilman Shields. Motion carried 4-0. <br />Next was the Confirmatory Resolution far the Flag lI spec building. It will be a 12,000 <br />square feet building which can be broken down into two 6,000 square feet suites, <br />intended for the purpose of leasing to a manufacturing company. <br />A motion to approve Resolution #15-2005, for asix-year tax abatement on real property <br />was made by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman Shields. Motion carried 4-0. <br />Animal Control Officer, Mark Taylor, reported thirty calls, seventeen impounds and <br />sixteen returns. <br />1 <br />
