Mr. Haymaker said they had no objections of meeting with the property owners and the
razor wire is required by the Federal security regulations. They would not have a
problem with replacing dead trees within 60 to 90 days. He said the EMF would be
decreased with installation of the substation.
Christy Behimer said that she lives within fifty feet of the proposed site and she was
aware that Hoosier Energy owned the site. But she was not aware that they would build
a substation on the site. This would definitely lower their property value.
Jeff Cave, 9435 Romine Road, stated his property joins this property. He said there was
a five acre lot behind them that was on the power line and is for sale. He feels this site
would be a better location for the substation, because it is wooded and behind everything.
If they have to build on this site they should put up a masonry fence and build it as high
as the highest point within the substation. He would be willing to work with Hoosier
Energy in purchasing this site to help pay for the five acre site.
Mr. Haymaker said they do own several pieces of property around the county and most of
them have substations on them. He said the substation would decrease the voltage and
they would be happy to meet with them to talk about landscaping.
After reading the Fact-of-Finding for special exception a motion to deny the request for
the substation at 497 Bunker Hill Rd was made by Charles McGuire. The motion died
for lack of second.
Motion to continue the petition for the substation at 497 Bunker Hill Rd until August 11,
2005 was made by Don Barry, second by Charles McGuire. Motion carried 3-0 and Mr.
Currens stated there would be no new notices sent.
Next was Thompson Thrift Development, Fields St., with a petition for a sign variance
for Lot 1.A and 1B in Fields PUD continued from June 9, 2005. Mr. McGuire reported
they had looked at the site in question and they recommend there be no additional
signage allowed on Bridge Street.
After reading the Fact-of Finding for Development Standards a motion to deny the
monument sign on Bridge Street for Thompson Thrift Development was made by Don
Barry, second by Charles McGuire. Motion carried 3-0.
Next was Thomas Springer, 4820 E Birdsong Trail, requesting a variance from
development standard of setbacks for rear property line from 20 feet to 10 feet for Lot 11
Country View Estates.
After reading the Fact-of-Findings for Development Standards a motion to grant a
setback variance for Lot 11, Country View Estates, and no part of the house shall
encroach on the drainage easement was made by Don Barry, second by Charles McGuire.
Motion carried 3-0.
