1145 <br /> May 20, 2014 <br /> The Mooresville Town Council met on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 6:30 P. M. at the Mooresville <br /> Government Center. <br /> Town Council members present: President Mark Mathis,Vice-President Virginia Perry,Tony Langley, <br /> George Watkins, and Jeff Cook. No members were absent. Town attorney Tim Currens was present. <br /> George Watkins gave the invocation. <br /> Amy Miller, Cornerstone Grants, reported to the council on the North Indiana Street ditch project. <br /> Mooresville scored a 42%on the low to moderate income during the study and had to score a 51%to <br /> qualify. So, Mooresville can't apply for grants. They need to qualify for a construction project and we <br /> just missed this year funding. There may be OCRA dollars at the end of the year. Amy thinks a targeted <br /> income study should be done for just the part'of town that is concerned. She has someone who helps <br /> her do this type of study by mail. Amy also said the Town should hire an engineer to determine who <br /> benefits most from the work to be done. The targeted income study usually cost between$2,000 and <br /> $2,500. <br /> Mindy, Mooresville Chamber of Commerce, presented a request for the closing of Main Street from <br /> Indiana to Clay Street for Mardi Gras from 5:00 P. M.to 11:00 P. M. on June 19, 2014. A motion was <br /> made by Councilman Langley to approve and a second was made by Councilman Cook to grant the <br /> street closing request. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> Brent Callahan, Park Superintendent, appeared before the council to request expenditure of money <br /> from Park Non-Reverting Capital in the following amounts: Pave service road and parking area, <br /> $17,855.00, basketball court, $14,850.00, basketball goals,$3,308.00, contingency funds, $1,992.00. <br /> A motion was made by Councilman Watkins with a second by Councilwoman Perry to approve not to <br /> exceed $38,000. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> Mike Cottrell, Old State Road 267,was not at the meeting but a discussion was held by the council. Mr. <br /> Cottrell wants to hook on to the wastewater. He will be on the agenda for the June 3, 2014 meeting. <br /> A motion was made by Councilman Watkins with a second by Councilwoman Perry to approve minutes <br /> of April 29th and May 6th. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> Legal: Tim Currens reported to the council Chris Janak asked for help with the presentation of <br /> information during the trial. <br /> Dave Moore had put in the Council's packets some streets that needed paving this year. Council will <br /> review. <br /> A motion was made by Councilman Langley with a second by Councilman Watkins to approve claims in <br /> the amount of$407,790.26. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> There being no further business before the council at this time a motion was made by Councilman <br /> Watkins with a second by Councilman Langley to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> The next regular scheduled town council meeting is June 3,2014 at 6:30 P.
