accordance with and approved by the Indiana State Board of Health (see <br />regulation HSE 14, Indiana State Board of Health). <br /> <br />OTHER PERMITTED USES: <br />Non-residential occupancy, mobile homes, trailers, or vans may be utilized as <br />contractors' offices, watchmen's shelters or tool and equipment storage only on the site <br />and only during the period of active construction of improvement projects. <br /> <br />Other use of mobile home and manufactured housing not meeting the requirements set <br />out above shall be permitted only upon the granting of a special exception by the Board <br />of Zoning Appeals as provided for in this ordinance. <br /> <br />SECTION 3.6 - SIGNS AND ADVERTISING STRUCTURES <br /> <br />I. DEFINITIONS: <br /> <br />"Sign" means any structure which advertises a product or activity that is available on the <br />property on which the structure is located. <br /> <br />"Fixed sign" means any sign, whether stationary or portable, which is not attached to a <br />building. <br /> <br />"Advertising structure" means any outdoor structure that advertises a product, event or <br />activity not connected with the property on which the structure is located. <br /> <br />II. PURPOSE AND INTENT <br />The Town of Mooresville recognizes that signs are a major means of outdoor advertising <br />for local businesses and provide directions and other information for drivers and <br />pedestrians. The Town also recognizes that signage significantly affects the quality of <br />our visual environment. <br /> <br />The goals of this sign ordinance are therefore to: <br /> 1. Promote conscientious use of signs by local businesses, government bodies <br /> and other entities to permit maximum legibility and effectiveness of signs, <br /> 2. Prevent over-concentration, excessive size and improper placement of signs in <br /> order to promote an atmosphere of small town charm with positive esthetics. <br /> <br />III. GENERAL PROVISIONS <br /> <br /> A. GENERAL REQLqREMENTS <br />Signs and advertising structures may be maintained in the districts where such uses are <br />permitted after having secured an Improvement Location Permit approving the location, <br />size and design of said sign or advertising structure except in the case where said sign or <br />advertising structure is specifically excluded from the requirements of an Improvement <br />Location Permit by the provisions of this section, subject to the following general <br />requirements: <br /> <br /> 1. Signs and advertising structures shall conform to the regulations for this <br />district in which they are located, as established by this section. <br /> <br />48. <br /> <br /> <br />
