MOORESVILLE PLAN COMMISSION MINUTES THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 2000 The Mooresville Plan Commission met in regular session on Thursday, February 24, 2000, at 7:00 P. M. at the Mooresville Town Hall. Plan Commission members present were: President Joel Beebe, Andy Pygman, Mike Young, John Ehrhart, Tim Bennett, Jim Bruner, Robert Williamson and Town attorney Tim Currens. Charles McGuire and Alan Marshall were absent. Motion was made by Commissioner Bruner, second by Commissioner Williamson to approve the minutes of January 27, 2000. Motion carried 7-0. President Joel Beebe introduced new member, James Bruner. First on the agenda, Mark Peden, attorney, presented a request from Wooley Lumber, located at 223 East South Street, to rezone two lots from R-1 to I-2 for storage. Mr. Peden submitted photos of the area for the filing. Steve Wooley told the commission he was third generation of owners of the saw mill. He said in 1944 they bought the two lots for storage. They put up a fence and planted evergreens as a buffer. He said they had twenty six employees as of now and he wanted to purchase a computerized cutting machine for 1.2 million dollars-total investment would be 1.5 million dollars plus add four new employees. He informed the commission there would be no cutting or processing on these two lots, just storage for raw product-logs. Commissioner Williamson asked if the newly created access road was a part of a lot and was told it was a platted alley. Commission Bruner asked about their normal operating hours. He was told 5:30 P. M. was closing and clean up crew was there until 8:00 P. M. and occassionally the employees worked over. Commissioner Williamson asked Mr. Wooley if they would be willing to put a hard surface on the alley from the gate to the street, indicating this was the source of dust and mud spreading out onto the street. Mr. Wooley said they would be willing to concrete the remainder of the alley. Motion was made by Commissioner Young, second by Commissioner Ehrhart, based on committment from Wooley Lumber to resurface the alley, to recommend to the Town Council to rezone the two lots from R-1 to I-2. Motion carried 6-0. The request will be on the agenda for Town Council, March 7, 2000, 6:30 P. M. Next on the agenda was Crow & Bray request for a two lot minor plat on Bray Road, one fourth mile off Greencastle Road to the south. Town attorney, Tim Currens, informed the Commission he had filed the request, but he had a conflict so he could not present the filing to the Commission. Building Inspector Joe Beikman confirmed the neccessary filings were made. Lot #1 is 7.75 acres and a house is proposed on this lot. Lot #2 is 11.5 acres. Entry is offofBray Road. Motion was made by Commissioner Ehrhart, second by Commissioner Young to approve Crow & Bray Minor Plat as presented incorporating the letter from County on retaining ownership of easement or dedicating the easement.
