ooRESV/~( TOWN OF MOORESVILLE TO: Town Council Members FROM: Mooresville Redevelopment Commission Brian Nelson, Chairman DATE: August 20, 2004 SUBJECT: Amendments to Mooresville Economic Development And Redevelopment Plans The Redevelopment Commission is nearing completion of possible amendments to the Economic Development and Redevelopment Plans for the Town of Mooresville. We contracted with Mike Shaver, Wabash Scientific, Inc., in March to provide professional services for this study. The purpose can best be summed up by the contract, which provides for the scope of services, in part, to be: "The Consultant's primary responsibility under this contract will be to examine the development progress of the TIF areas since inception of the TIF programs, with specific reference to and consideration of the ability of the Town and Redevelopment Commission to fulfill the projects and improvements initially stated in the Economic Development Plans and Redevelopment Plan. The Consultant will consider whether those projects continue to be relevant in terms of current needs of the community, and in terms of the current comprehensive plan and other plans of development for the Town, as applied to these specific areas." We are enclosing a draft copy of the report for your review and comments. The Redevelopment Commission will meet MONDAY, AUGUST 30, 5:30 PM, MOORESVILLE TOWN HALL, to review suggested amendments. We have invited Tom Warthen, Council President, and Troy Bryant, to participate in the meeting and share your comments. We will welcome your participation if you can attend. We feel it is extremely important to have this plan fit with the recently revised Comprehensive Plan. We want to work with the Town Council and the Planning Commission to establish a visionary approach for future development and redevelopment of Mooresville.
