A discussion was held concerning the Southside sewer interceptor. This sewer line in question is <br /> from Dairy Queen to alley by Value Market. The approximate cost of a new sewer line would <br /> be $111,000.00. Street Commissioner Joe Beikman said this would probably help approximately <br /> 85% in the removal of infiltration water. He told the council perimeter drains and leaky <br /> laterals in alley between the homes was a big problem. Councilman Pygman said water stands in <br /> catch basins and Mr. Beikman said the catch basins were lower than the yards of the <br /> homeowners. This item will be on August 1 agenda and in the meantime President Mathis and <br /> Councilman Pygman will look at location of the catch basins and get a finn quote on amount of <br /> money needed to work on the problems. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman Warthen to approve two <br />appointees, James Ransome and Brian Nelson, to the Prevailing Wage Board. Motion carried 5- <br />0. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilman Warthen, second by Councilman Dolen to approve <br />Availability Fees for a change in occupancy ora business in Town Center (Past Times <br />Restaurant) in the amount of: Availability $6,930.00 ~ <br /> Connectiion $5,761.00 <br />Motion carried 5-0. <br /> <br />Animal Control Officer Mark Taylor reported: Forty (40) calls, nine (9) impounds, and two (2) <br />returned. <br /> <br />Mark Williams, a property owner of a home on Carlisle Street asked to speak to the council <br />about a drainage problem. Mr. Pace a property owner on Hadley Street also spoke of a drainage <br />problem. They said there used to be a drain for water to go on into Goose Creek, but the drain <br />was now closed and possibly the tile may be gone. They would like to have it reopened. This <br />item will be on August 1, 2000 agenda. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilman Warthen, second by Councilman Dolen to approve payment of <br />the claims. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> <br />There being no further business to come before the Council at this time, a motion was made by <br />Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman Clark to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> <br />The next regular meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be on Tuesday, August 1, 2000, <br />at 6:30 P. Rod Bray, attorney, sat in for Town <br />attorney Tim Currens as legal counsel. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman Pygman to approve minutes of <br />July 18, 2000 meeting.
