1006
in another item of similar nature, the residents of Northpointe Drive, which is a cul-de-
sac, have requested that the Town place a"No Outlet" or"Dead End" sign on the street to
let drivers know because their children play in the cul-de-sac. There is no difference in
the statute between the two signs. Councilman Mathis stated he would like to see a
"Children Playing" sign. Joe Beikman stated that the concern with a"Children Playing"
sign is that it could appear that the Town is condoning children playing in the street.
President Watkins stated that the"Children Playing" sign does not address the nature of
the street.
A motion was made by Councilman Mathis that both a"Children Playing" sign and a
"No Outlet" sign be placed on Northpointe Drive. Motion was second by Councilman
Clark and carried 4-0.
The next item was the revised contract between the Town and Morgan County EDC. The
contract was signed at the beginning of the year, however when it was reviewed by
Morgan Co. EDC,their council decided to revise the contract to more accurately describe
the services they provide. There are no substantial changes to the services, only the
wording.
A motion to accept the new contract and allow President Watkins to be the signatory was
made by Councilman Mathis, second by Councilman Clark and carried 4-0.
Town Attorney, Tim Currens stated that the Council had passed a Confirniatory
Resolution for Mount Olive at the July 5, 2011 meeting. He was out of town at that time
and he looked at the notices and realized that there was one of the notices that had not
been given so he republished it and made sure those notices went out. The particulars of
the Resolution were discussed at the July 5t"'meeting.
(here being no questions or comments from the audience, a motion to approve
Resolution 14-2011, a confirmatory resolution for Mount Olive, was made by
Councilman Clark, second by Councilman Cook. Motion carried 4-0. Councilman
Langley was absent tonight and abstained from voting at the July 5th meeting.
A motion to approve the payment of claims was made by Councilman Mathis, second by
Councilman Clark. Motion carried 4-0.
There being no further business to come before the council at this time, a motion was
made by Councilman Cook to adjourn the meeting. Motion was second by Councilman
Clark and carried 4-0.
The next meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be held on Tuesday, September
6, 2011,beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Mooresville Government Center.
Geor `Natkins, Council President
ATTEST:
andra R. Perry, Clerk-Treasurer
