Mooresville Board of Zoning Appeals
MINUTES
Thursday, April 12th, 2012, 6:00pm
Mooresville Government Center
The Mooresville Board of Zoning Appeals met in regular session on Thursday April 12th,
2012 at 6:00pm at the Mooresville Government Center.
Members present were: Neal Allman, Alan Kramer, and Mike Young. Ann Whaley was
not present. One position has yet to be filled. Town attorney Tim Currens was present.
A motion by Mike Young was made to approve the minutes from the previous meeting,
held in March 2012,Neal Allman seconded the motion, motion carried 3-0.
On the agenda was Frank and Judi Mahurin of 59 S Clay Street, Mooresville requesting a
former garage/pool house on said property be permitted for conversion to an in law
quarters. Mike Young asked if the garage/pool house was connected to existing water
and or sewage, the owners acknowledged that it did in fact have both already ran to it.
The owners demonstrated on plans that roof lines and existing dimensions would not be
affected, the requested in law quarters would come no closer to the road, power lines etc.
Alan Kramer questioned the longevity of the in law quarters, what would become of this
space upon sale and or in laws vacating the space. The homeowner did not seem to have
contemplated that, as he had no decisive answer. Mike Young made a motion to grant the
variance, Alan Kramer clarified the motion to include the removal of the in law quarters
to revert back to a garage and or pool house upon vacancy or sale, this was not to become
rental property. The owners agreed. Neal Allman read the findings of fact. The motion
was again made, seconded and carried 3-0.
There being no further business to come before the Board of Zoning Appeals a motion
was made by Mike Young and seconded by Alan Kramer to adjourn. Motion was carried
unanimously.
/VP' 4//
hairma
Attest:
'
-cre ary w•
