M. at the Mooresville Town Hall. <br /> Council members present were: President George Watkins, Mark Mathis,Virginia Perry, <br /> Tony Langley, and Jeff Cook. No members were absent. Town attorney Tim Currens <br /> was present. <br /> First on the agenda the Fire Safer Grant: Councilman Cook had received a letter on <br /> January 25th from Fire Chief Medsker requesting the hiring freeze be exempted for three <br /> new firemen. The fire department had received a FEMA based grant that pays 100% of <br /> salaries and benefits for two years. This grant was written in July of 2012. The Fire <br /> department received notice they were approved for the grant in the amount of <br /> $417,681.96. There had been an increase in health insurance amount per person since the <br /> grant was written but a representative told Tim that an amendment could be filed for the <br /> extra money needed to cover that cost. Chief Medsker did file an amendment but may <br /> not hear anything right away. He has implemented Kelly days to help reduce <br /> expenditures from the reserve casual line item of the fire budget. There are several <br /> variables to consider; one is public safety physicals, the biggest being the psychiatric <br /> t?va�7latinn <br />
