The next item to come before the Board was Kendrick
Hospital's Petition for a Variance from the development standards
to place two signs at the southeast corner of State Road 67 and
Hadley Road. Teresa Williams, attorney with Ancel, Miroff &
Frank, was present, along with Bud Swisher, the Hospital
Administrator. Attorney Williams introduced a map showing the
area, drawings of the signs, and pictures showing the location.
A question from the floor regarding the location of any signs on
Johnson Road was raised and when advised that none would be placed
in this area, all of the remonstrators thanked the Board and left.
Attorney Williams proceeded with the variance discussions, stating
that the size of the signs would be 128 square feet, as opposed to
our standard of 32 square feet set out in the Ordinance for an
institutional sign. She also advised that the signs would be
closer to the road right-of-way, sign A being 36 feet from the
right-of-way and sign B being 10 feet from the right-of-way, with
the Ordinance standard being 60 feet. Lastly, she stated that
there would be more than one sign on the property with Kendrick
already having a sign present. She went on to show the reason for
the proposed variance being due to the ground being elevated in
this area and that it would not obstruct traffic. Also due to the
nature of 67 having a curve at this area, there was no visual
obstruction with any traffic. Bud Swisher then advised that
several of the patients were from out of state and out of county
which necessitated better directional signs. The Board having
reviewed all of the exhibits and there being no remonstrators from
the floor, proceeded to a discussion and finding of fact under the

-4-
