currently there are people that use the area near his home for target shooting <br />and practice and there are old cars dumped in the area. He feels that this <br />type of use on the gravel operation property would continue with more business <br />uses. He stated that the current E-Z Way Rental business was not offensive but <br />was concerned about once it is opened up more damage would occur with additional <br />businesses. <br /> <br /> Next William Campbell of 671 State Road 267 spoke. Mr. Campbell advised <br />that he had 700 foot of road frontage on State Road 267 and although he tech- <br />nically did not disagree with E-Z Way Rental he felt that the Hopkins had not <br />been consistent in what they had promised the respective Zoning Boards and for <br />that reason couldn't be trusted to do what he would be required to do by any <br />variance. He pointed out a white truck and some bricks wich should have been <br />moved pursuant to the contract which still had not been taken care of. In <br />addition the grass had not mowed along the State right-of-way until recently. <br />He felt that the attitude of Mr. Hopkins had made it difficult for him to be <br />a good neighbor and probably would not have complained if it had not been for <br />this. He further stated that the business had been illegally operated since <br />1980 and often there were several signs up all of which were in violation. <br /> <br />In particular he states that at one of the prior meetings Mr. Hopkins said the <br />business was not doing that well and should probably close within 6 months and <br />now it is being stated that the business is steadily increased again showing a <br />lack of credibility. <br /> <br /> Mr. Campbell next brought up the idea of an acceleration or deacceleration <br /> lane being needed to make access to the business. He stated that he had contacted <br /> Dick Howden in Crawfordsville, the District State Highway Represntative who stated <br /> that the highway cut would be needed and also that the original contract with <br /> <br />-8- <br /> <br /> <br />
