<br />I <br /> <br />as to maintain the bipartisan character of the Board as far <br /> <br />as possible and as each additional member is appointed the <br /> <br />quorum of the Board shall increase by one (1). <br /> <br />SECTION V. TERM OF OFFICE, Upon the establishment of a board, the term of <br /> <br />the members initially appointed shall be one member for a term of one (1) year; <br /> <br />one member for a term of two (2) years; one member for a term of three (3) years; <br /> <br />one member for a term of four (4) years. As a term expires, each new appointment is <br /> <br />for a four (4) year term. All terms expire on the first (1st) Monday in January, <br /> <br />but a member continues in office until his successor is appointed. <br /> <br />The member appointed by the Circuit Court Judge for the unincorporated area <br /> <br />of Brown Township shall be appointed for a term of four (4) years and said term <br /> <br />shall expire the first (1st) Monday in January after said four (4) year term; however, <br /> <br />this member shall continue in office until his successor is appointed. <br /> <br />Each of the ex-officio members shall be appointed on an annual basis with <br /> <br />their term expiring the first (1st) Monday in January of each year, however, said <br /> <br />member shall continue in office until his successor is appointed. <br /> <br />SECTION VI. BOARD MEETINGS. The meetings of the Board shall be public, <br />The Board shall fix the time and place of its meetings so that it shall meet at least <br /> <br />quarterly. <br /> <br />At its first regular meeting each year the Board shall elect a president and <br /> <br />a vice-president. The vice-president may act as president during the absence or <br /> <br />disability of the president. The Board may select a secretary either from within <br /> <br />or outside its membership. <br /> <br />SECTION VII. QUORUM. A majority of the members constitutes a quorum. <br /> <br />'-- <br /> <br />SECTION VIII. COMPENSATION OF BOARD MEMBERS. Members of the Board shall <br /> <br /> <br />receive a salary of $20.00 per meeting and if the Board determines that it is <br /> <br /> <br />desirable for members or employees to attend a state, regional or national conference <br /> <br />dealing with parks and recreation problems, it may authorize the payment of the <br /> <br />actual expenses involved in attending such meetings if the amount has been made <br /> <br />available in the Board appropriation. <br /> <br />SECTION IX. DUTIES OF THE BOARD, The Board shall: <br /> <br />1. exercise general supervision of and make rules for the department; <br /> <br />-2- <br />
