<br />. <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />.' <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />i <br />I <br />, <br />, <br />I' <br />,/ <br />II <br />I <br />I <br />/, <br /> <br />224.10 Waters or wastes containing substances which are not amen- <br />able to treatment or reduction by the sewage treatment pro- <br />cesses employed, or are amenable to treatment only to such <br />degree that the sewage treatment plant effluent cannot meet <br />the requirements of other agencies having jurisdiction over <br />discharge to the receiving waters. <br /> <br />224.9 (4) Unusual volume of flow or concentration of <br />wastes constituting "slugs" as defined herein. <br /> <br />... <br /> <br />225. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />If any waters or wastes are discharged, or are proposed to be dis- <br />charged, to the public sewers, which waters contain the substance <br />or possess the characteristics enumerated in Paragraph 224 herein- <br />above, and which in the judgment of the Superintendent may have a <br />deleterious effect ,upon the sewage works, processes, equipment, or <br />receiving waters, or which otherwise create a hazard to life or, <br />constitute a public nuisance, the Superintendent shall: <br /> <br />r <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />225.1 Require new industries or industries with significant in- <br />crease in discharges to submit information on wastewater <br />characteristics and obtain prior approval for discharges. <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />, <br />I <br /> <br />225.2 Require other methods of disposal; and/or <br /> <br />225.3 Reqùire pretreatment to an acceptable condition for dis- <br />charge to the public sewersj and/or <br /> <br />225.4 Require control over the quantities and rates of discharge; <br />and/ or " <br /> <br />225.5 Require fscilities to prevent accidental dischsrge of any <br />unacceptable wastesj and <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />225.6 Require payment to cover the added cost of handling and <br />treating the wastes not covered by sewer charges under the <br />provisions of Ordinance No. 7-1974 of said Town and all <br />ordinances amendatory thereof and supplemental thereto, and <br />any fines, penal ties, or damages assessed against the Town <br />for discharge of such wastes. <br /> <br />226. If the Superintendent permits the pretreatment or equalization of <br />waste flows, the design and installation of the plans and equipment <br />shall be subject to the review and approval of the Superintendent <br />and subject to the requirements of all applicable codes, ordi- <br />nances, and laws. <br /> <br />l <br /> <br />227. Any industrial wastes discharged into the public sewers shall be <br />subject to periodic inspection and determination of volume, char- <br />acter, and concentration.
