Commissioner Knierim also discussed making revisions to the current hiring <br /> SOP. He requested that Chief Viles start on that SOP and present it to the <br /> Commission in the future. <br /> Chief Viles advised the Commission that an officer is currently involved in <br /> the hiring process for the IMPD. Commissioner Knierim asked about the <br /> remaining candidates on the list. Chief Viles wanted to know if they wanted <br /> to hire off of the old SOP and use the list or did they want to hire someone <br /> off of the new SOP. Commissioner Berwick expressed his concerns <br /> regarding the time frame and the time constraints that we were under the last <br /> hiring process. Commissioner Kays stated that he was impressed with one of <br /> the remaining candidates and that he had spoke to the candidate regarding <br /> the minor problem with his background. <br /> Commissioner Knierim asked if we wanted to re-open the process and re- ti <br /> interview the candidates. Commissioner Knierim also stated that it might be <br /> best to hire under the current SOP and then consider the new SOP as a work <br /> in process. Chief Viles stated that he would look at Plainfield's and if the <br /> commission wanted, he would also look at several other departments. <br /> Commissioner Berwick inquired about doing background checks on the <br /> remaining candidates. Chief Viles advised him that the two remaining on the <br /> list have already completed the background checks. <br /> Commissioner Knierim inquired about the two probation officers at ILEA. <br /> Chief Viles stated that they were doing well. <br /> Chief Viles asked Town Attorney Tim Currens about the role of a Town <br /> Manager and would it conflict with the Police Commission. Attorney <br /> Currens stated that there would not be any issues, that the Police <br /> Commission would run as normal. <br /> Chief Viles also requested information regarding the Alarm Ordinance and <br /> it's passing with the Town Board. Attorney Currens stated that he was <br /> working on the resolution of the current Alarm Ordinance. <br />
