Minutes of the Metropolitan Police <br /> Commissioners Meeting <br /> April 19, 2007 <br /> The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance. Dr. Knierim <br /> welcomed everyone to the meeting. In attendance were Chief Timothy Viles, <br /> Town Attorney Tim Cum ens and Police Commissioners Knierim, Berwick, <br /> and Kays. <br /> Commissioner Kays motioned to approve the minutes from March's <br /> meeting. Commissioner Berwick seconded the motion. <br /> Old Business <br /> Chief Viles advised that he was almost finished with the Light Duty SOP <br /> and that each department that he has spoke with have their own policies. <br /> ( Chief Viles would like to present the SOP to the Commissioners on May <br /> 17th. <br /> Chief Viles also brought up the sale of the old police cars and the seized <br /> vehicles. Chief Viles advised them that one of the police cars is being <br /> bought by the Brooklyn Police Department. Chief Viles advised them that <br /> they had five (5) police cars and five (5) seized vehicles going to the auction <br /> on May 3rd <br /> New Business <br /> Dr. Knierim discussed the Sergeant's promotion and the candidate's that <br /> applied for the position. Commissioner Berwick made the motion to promote <br /> Officer Tom Whitley and Commissioner Kays seconded the motion. The <br /> promotion will become effective on April 28, 2007. <br /> Chief Viles presented a new SOP on the Promotional Process of the <br /> Mooresville Metropolitan Police Department. All three commissioners <br /> requested time to look over the SOP and will discuss it at the next meeting. <br /> Chief Viles also included a copy of Plainfield Metropolitan Police <br /> ( Department's SOP as a guideline. <br />
