Minutes of the Metropolitan Police Commissioners Meeting April 19, 2007 The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance. Dr. Knierim welcomed everyone to the meeting. In attendance were Chief Timothy Viles, Town Attorney Tim Cum ens and Police Commissioners Knierim, Berwick, and Kays. Commissioner Kays motioned to approve the minutes from March's meeting. Commissioner Berwick seconded the motion. Old Business Chief Viles advised that he was almost finished with the Light Duty SOP and that each department that he has spoke with have their own policies. ( Chief Viles would like to present the SOP to the Commissioners on May 17th. Chief Viles also brought up the sale of the old police cars and the seized vehicles. Chief Viles advised them that one of the police cars is being bought by the Brooklyn Police Department. Chief Viles advised them that they had five (5) police cars and five (5) seized vehicles going to the auction on May 3rd New Business Dr. Knierim discussed the Sergeant's promotion and the candidate's that applied for the position. Commissioner Berwick made the motion to promote Officer Tom Whitley and Commissioner Kays seconded the motion. The promotion will become effective on April 28, 2007. Chief Viles presented a new SOP on the Promotional Process of the Mooresville Metropolitan Police Department. All three commissioners requested time to look over the SOP and will discuss it at the next meeting. Chief Viles also included a copy of Plainfield Metropolitan Police ( Department's SOP as a guideline.
