John Ehrhart 5485 East Commons Drive applauds the redevelopment commission for
their creativity on this project. Our educational needs to he improved. He appreciates the
proposal put forth tonight.
Brad Lindsey, Mooresville School Superintendent 6501 Daisy Itill Court, Camby in
Morgan County and Mooresville School District stated Mooresville Schools need help
and was very encourage about the commission's desire to partner with the schools. He
thanked Harold Gutzwillcr, Joy Sessing, and Jeff Pipkin for meeting and discussing
concerns and being clarified on some questions. He said he appreciated talking with
Virginia Perry, Mooresville Town Council, who is an articulate, very thorough, and has a
genuine heart for Mooresville. Ile said he was thankfid he was able to explain a concept
and the school submitted a request to say a bus garage was a part of this plan because
they need to maximize the land of municipal garage to consolidate all resources. He also
wants to add two parcels to the plan.
Lyn Gordon 1265 Rosewood Lane assumes the commission has done all the due
diligence. He recommends that value skills are needed to train or retrain at Ivy Tech and
on line programs.
David Bums 425 Campus Court stated he questions the suitability of the project. The
commission needs to consider some of the investment aspects. I-le hopes Ivy Tech
doesn't train people and then they go elsewhere to work. lie doesn't know how they will
accomplish this. The capital Improvement board did not invest in Ivy Tech.
Greg Terhune 6433 East Mills in Heartland Crossing, Morgan County has a concern
about the claim the commission says they are partnering with Mooresville Schools when
Ivy Tech is already in the school paying rent and now the commission is drawing their
tenant away from them. This does not benefit the school. Southbridge is owned by an
investor, Brown Bark and they are paying taxes on the property. When the
Redevelopment Commission buys the property the taxes stop. He does not see the gain.
This project is a loss.
Steve Overton 9928 Woodland Drive testifies to the commission member's integrity. Ile
said 20 years ago the community went thru a hard time due to the work blight. Overton
and Sons has been working with Ivy Tech for 20 years for the training of employees. It is
important for the youth here to have a campus locally. He has watched Ivy Tech grow in
Franklin. Advanced technology is at the downtown campus. He has people come
through the doors that do not have the skills need. He appreciates the commission's
eforts. This will be a big benefit.
Don Adams 11899 North Bethel Road stated that Steve Overton had said what he was
going to say. Ivy Tech is a huge institution. Other communities want it and Mooresville
is taking advantage to get it.
All the people that had signed up to speak have spoken so this concludes the public input
portion of the public hearing.
