Board of Zoning Appeals Minutes
Thursday November 9t', 2017
Members Present: Perry King, Charles McGuire, Neal Allman and town
attorney Tim Currens.
Neal Allman called the meeting to order and then entertained a motion
on the previous minutes, Perry King made a motion to approve the
previous minutes, Charles McGuire seconded the motion and the motion
passed 3-0.
The first item on the agenda is a variance request for Eugene and
Barbara Perry at 349 Harlan Dr. presented by Ross Holloway. The
variances sought are front and side setbacks as well as the north buffer.
Mr. Holloway discussed that Mr. and Mrs. Perry want to build additional
storage units similar to the ones that are there now. Mr. Holloway
discussed the entrance location, lighting, potential traffic flow and the
differing possible uses of the property during his presentation, then
entertained questions or concerns. An audience member, Christina
Lamb, a neighbor to the property expressed concerns to the proximity to
her property. Neal Allman read a letter presented to the Board by
neighbors Dora and Wayne Pace who were unable to attend, the
expressed their concerns as well. Neal Allman read the findings of fact,
Tim Currens instructed the Board to address each variance individually,
Charles McGuire made a motion to deny the 100 foot to 5 feet setback,
Perry King seconded the motion and the denial passed. Tim Currens
questioned Ross Holloway and the need to proceed with the additional
variances, Ross indicated that he would like to continue the requests so
that he may have time to meet with neighboring property owners to
address concerns. A motion was made to continue the request, seconded
and passed. Tim Currens advised that any adjustment to the request
could be considered.
