April 17, 2018 <br />The Mooresville Town Council met in regular session on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at 6:30 P. M. at the <br />Mooresville Government Center. <br />Town Council members present were: Council President Tom Warthen, Vice -President David Rogers, <br />Joe Beikman, Dustin Stanley, and Mark Mathis. All members were present. Attorney Mel Daniel was <br />present. <br />David Rogers gave the invocation. <br />Meeting was called to order by Council President Warthen. <br />1. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Beikman with a second by Councilman Stanley to approve minutes <br />of April 3, 2018. Motion carried 4-0-1 abstention. David Rogers was absent at that meeting. <br />CF -1's - from Olive Oak, LLC and Mt. Olive from 2009 (original building) and 2017 (additional building): <br />A motion was made by Councilman Mathis with a second by Councilman Rogers to approve CF -1 for Mt. <br />Olive's original building in 2009 for ten-year abatement. Motion carried 5-0. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Rogers with a second by Councilman Stanley to approve CF -1 for the <br />Addition in 2017. Motion carried 5-0. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Rogers with a second by Councilman Beikman to approve CF -1 for <br />addition to the building in 2014. Motion carried 5-0. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Rogers with a second by Councilman Beikman to approve Mt. Olive <br />Personal Property for original in 2009. Motion carried 5-0. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Rogers with a second by Councilman Stanley to approve Mt. Olive <br />CF -1 for additional equipmej)t in 2017. Motion carried 5-0. The owners of Mt. Olive -Olive Oak have <br />exceeded their expectations in both salaries and additional equipment. <br />Next, a motion was made by Councilman Mathis with a second by Councilman Rogers to approve a <br />write-off in bad debts for Wastewater in the amount of $ 2,784.10 for the year 2016. Motion carried 5- <br />0. <br />Mindy Taylor from Chamber of Commerce present a request for a street closing permit. A Block Party <br />will be held on June 2V1 from 5:30 to 10 P. M. There will be food vendors, craft vendors, live music, and <br />a KIDS ZONE. A motion was made by Councilman Mathis with a second by Councilman Rogers to <br />approve the street closing permitfor the Block Party. Motion carried 5-0. <br />Unfinished Business: <br />Update on restoration of church bell: <br />Council President Warthen informed everyone the Eagles had donated $2,000 and now the donation <br />fund has a balance of $4110.00. The original goal was $5600 to fix the bell. <br />Sammy Davis update: Councilman Stanley said he was pulling his idea. Councilman Mathis said he will <br />work on how to proceed with the monument. Councilman Stanley said he want to proceed with <br />honoring all veterans. <br />Danny Allen requested permission to proceed with hiring an employee for the vacant dispatcher <br />position. A motion was made by Councilman Mathis with a second by Councilman Rogers to approve <br />proceeding with hiring process for the vacant position. Motion carried 5-0. <br />No Legal: Attorney Daniel commented he was in his new office at Taft and the Town's files are there. <br />Public Comments: Dave Allen, asked for an update on the Police Station and the advertising sign on <br />corner of St. Road 67 and High Street. <br />Council President Warthen told him the Town was getting real close to getting four bids for the <br />remodeling of the Police station and yes, the Town is getting the rent money from the advertising sign <br />this year and the money is put into t$e Gateway Maintenance Fund. <br />Dave Allen also asked about the Samuel Moore boulder. ;This was put in the Bicentennial Park just not <br />on the corner. Dave Allen also asked about the Department updates. <br />
