July 17a', 2018 <br />The Mooresville Town Council met in regular session on Tuesday July 17th, 2018 at 6:30pm in <br />the Mooresville Government Center. <br />Town Council Members present: Tom Warthen, David Rogers, Mark Mathis, Joe Beikman, <br />Dustin Stanley and town attorney Mel Daniel, no absences. <br />Tom Warthen gave the prayer. <br />Council President Warthen called the meeting to order then asked called for a motion on the <br />previous minutes, Dustin Stanley motioned to approve the minutes as presented, Joe Beikman <br />seconded the motion and the minutes were accepted unanimously. <br />Council President Warthen presented to the council a letter from Shane Williams requesting the <br />annexation of three properties discussed in a previous meeting. The letter includes property <br />addresses, maps and consent from additional Williams' family members. Joe Beikman noted the <br />sewer hook on fees and sewer availability while Tom Warthen discussed the positive results of <br />annexation. David Rogers made the motion to move forward on research and consideration of <br />this request, Joe Beikman seconded the motion and the motion passed 5-0. <br />Councilman Mark Mathis spoke of the upcoming INDOT meeting scheduled July 25t '2018 <br />from 6:00pm — 7:00pm here at the Mooresville Government Center. Councilman Mathis stated <br />the meeting was an informational meeting about the upcoming St Rd 42 / High Street pavement <br />and sidewalk improvements. <br />During unfinished business President Tom Warthen announced the bell fund had met its goal and <br />work had begun, the Public works Department would oversee the bell schedule, it is set to <br />initially ring from 8:00am to 8:pm on the hour for the hour. President Warthen thanked all those <br />who donated. <br />Chief Allen gave the Police Department monthly report, including updates on investigations that <br />Detective Kays and Detective Richhardt had been involved in. Chief Tim Medsker gave the Fire <br />Department monthly report including information recently utilized grant that had beenobtained <br />and the new Savannah Law that took effect on July 1". Mark Taylor also updated the council on <br />the number of animal control calls. <br />Mike Dellinger of the Morgan County Economic Development spoke of the pending tax <br />abatement for Flosource. <br />During public comments: Danny Lundy thanked the council on behalf of Shane Williams for <br />entertaining the idea of annexation. Pat Penna represented Celebrate Mooresville, stating that the <br />recent grant to place plaques on local business came in under budget and Celebrate Mooresville <br />would like to entertain the idea of a park bench placed in the downtown area, the council was <br />open to the idea and would like to see example of the bench prior to any installation. <br />Councilman Stanley made a motion to approve claims in the amount of $413,978.29, <br />Councilman Beikman seconded the motion and the motion passed. <br />When no further business was presented to the council Councilman Stanley made a motion to <br />adjourn, Councilman Rogers seconded the motion and the motion passed unanimously. <br />
