<br />The Mooresville Town Council met in regular session on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at 6:30 P. M. at the
<br />Government Center.
<br />Town Council members present: Tom Warthen, David Rogers, Joe Beikman, Dustin Stanley, and Mark
<br />Mathis, no members were absent. Town Attorney Mel Daniel was present.
<br />Tom Warthen gave the prayer.
<br />A motion was made by Councilman Rogers with a second by Councilman Stanley to approve minutes of
<br />®' I July 17th. Motion carried 5-0.
<br />A motion was made by Councilman Beikman with a second by Councilman Stanley to approve minutes of
<br />July 26th. Motion carried 5-0.
<br />Mindy Taylor, Chamber of Commerce, had a street closure request for June 8, 2019, on a Saturday for a
<br />block party and Parks department summer concert kick-off. A motion to approve but for them to come
<br />back six weeks prior to the date and let streets close at 3 P. M. was made by Councilman Stanley and a
<br />second by Councilman Rogers. Motion carried 5-0.
<br />Danny Allen, Police Chief, requested to hire a replacement dispatcher for Jeff Gilliam. Jeff is retiring on
<br />August 14, 2018 after 22 years but he will stay on as a part-time dispatcher. A motion was made by
<br />Councilman Rogers with a second by Councilman Beikman to approve. Motion carried 5-0.
<br />Brent Callahan, Park Superintendent, requested approval of a street closing permit for the remainder of
<br />concerts this season closing North Indiana Street from Main to Washington for Public Safety. A motion
<br />was made by Councilman Rogers with a second by Councilman Stanley to approve for all four remaining
<br />concerts. Motion carried 5-0.
<br />Unfinished business /445'South Indiana Street Improvements.
<br />The committee: Councilman Mathis, Councilman
<br />Beikman, and Keegan Hopwood gave a letter of
<br />recommendation on the lowest bids to council members. There were twelve bids and eight were local
<br />businesses or owners live in Mooresville.
