OWN <br />David Moores gave an update on the Government Center roofing project and an update on the 2021 <br />Community Crossing Grant. This year is also the year to consider bids for the mowing and maintenance <br />of the cemeteries. Councilman Stanley made a motion to allow for the advertisement. Councilman <br />Swinney seconded. Motion carried 5-0 <br />Fire Chief Dalton presented the call stats for December and the total calls for 2020. There was a <br />discussion regarding surplus fire equipment. <br />Legal — <br />None <br />Public Comments — <br />None <br />Approval of Claims - <br />Councilman Stanley made the motion to approve claims of $675,492.40. Councilman Cook seconded. <br />Motion carried 5-0 <br />Town Council Comments— <br />Councilman Williams mentioned that a local party chariman had made a claim that he had not made his <br />donations to the Town. He stated how the Town was not doing a good job keeping track of his <br />donations, and a painting purchased from a local artist was not appearing in the donation fund report. <br />After tonight's donation of $750.00, he will have donated items totaling $3,052.50. Councilman Williams <br />created a folder with a handwritten ledger of all monetary and non -monetary contributions to be filed in <br />the clerk's office. <br />Councilman Williams is donating the $750 to go towards providing devices for the hearing impaired that <br />may be used during town meetings. He also stated he has been working with the town attorney's office <br />and the clerk treasurer's office to get a full list of all board and committee appointments. Councilman <br />Williams also let the council know about an additional grant he has been working on with a grant writer <br />to submit for a $250,000 grant to benefit the Town. <br />Clerk -Treasurer Dianna Wamsley asked for clarification on the statement that Councilman Williams <br />made about the handling of donations. Councilman Williams amended his statement to say he had not <br />given the appropriate receipts to the Clerk Treasurer's office for there to be a record of his non - <br />monetary donation. Deputy Clerk Debbie Monts stated she thought Councilman Williams indicated <br />there were mistakes made in the record-keeping through the clerk's office. Donations written as a check <br />to the Clerk Treasurer's office is accounted for and reconciled with the bank statements. There is no <br />way to receipt a non -monetary donation through the books. All monetary donations that Councilman <br />Williams had made were accepted and reported accordingly in the accounting system. <br />Councilman Stanley acknowledged Vickie Kivett and Kim Meredith as the first females elected as the <br />Chair and Co -Chair of the Morgan County Council. <br />Dean Mayfield addressed the issue that some employees were running into with the prescription <br />program. The phone lines rolling over to voicemail will be rectified by the end of the week. <br />The next regular scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be held on Tuesday, January <br />19, 2021, at 6:30 P. M. at the Mooresville Government Center <br />There being no further business to come before the council at this time, Councilman Stanley made a <br />motion to adjourn with a second from Councilman Swinney.
