1647 <br />Chief Dalton looked into the websites to auction the fire department surplus vehicles. The <br />buyer pays for the fees, and there is the ability to set a reserve on the items. There was an <br />email of appraisal value sent to the Council. Councilman Warthen would like to see the truck be <br />able to be used by the street department. There was a consensus among the Council to put the <br />vehicles on one of the bid sites with a reserve. <br />Chief Dalton gave an update on the purchase and fitting of the Structure Gear and the financial <br />obligations. The total amount for an outright purchase would be $33,435. The bulletproof vests <br />were also discussed. The cost for the vests is $7,505 and the life use would be 15years. <br />Councilman Cook made the Motion to purchase the structure gear and the bulletproof vests <br />and fund from the CCD fund. Councilman Williams seconded. Motion carried 5-0 <br />Chief Dalton talked about being awarded a car donated through a DNR program to the <br />Department for a pool car. The only requirement is that the Town is responsible for the <br />Insurance and maintenance for five years. He presented the service agreement to the Council <br />for review. Councilman Cook made a motion to approve Chief Dalton receiving the car. <br />Councilman Swinney seconded. Motion carried 5-0. <br />Legal - <br />Attorney Lee presented the ordinance to end the stay of late fees for sewer payments. The due <br />date for the bill would be July 23, and only current charges would be affected. Councilman <br />Stanley made a motion to suspend the rules to approve Ordinance 14-2021 on the first reading. <br />Councilman Swinney seconded. Motion carried 5-0 <br />Public Comments — <br />Nicepak gave an update on the expansion project as they are in a holding pattern while <br />completing the network study at the end of the pandemic. Councilman Warthen asks when is <br />the anticipated date. Nickpak replied in Q4. <br />Councilman Stanley made the Motion to approve claims for $730,258.11. Councilman <br />Swinney seconded. Motion carried 5-0 <br />Town Council Comments — <br />Councilman Williams alerted the Council that Martinsville used their grant from the CARES act <br />to fund bonuses for their employees. Councilman Williams voiced his disagreement with having <br />budget meetings behind closed doors and would like to see a public workshop for the <br />department heads to present their proposed budgets. <br />Councilman Stanley publicly thanked American Water for their investment in the Town of $22 <br />Million in water upgrades to improve the water quality for their consumers. <br />The next regular scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be held on Tuesday, <br />August 3, 2021, at 6:30 P. M. at the Mooresville Government Center. <br />There was no further business before the Council, which Councilman Cook made with a second <br />from Councilman Williams. Motion Carried 5-0. <br />
