He raised issues with an officer's wife being, what he perceived, an essential part of the decision-making at a department meeting to discuss the K-9 unit. Councilman Cook expressed his concern at his ability to continue to serve as the liaison and the decision by the department to allow an officer with only one year and seven months experience on the force to be a K-9 handler. He believes the department is showing disrespect to the town council. Councilman Williams directed members of the public interested in signing up to volunteer at the 200th celebration to QR cards at the end of table. Councilman Stanley requested permission to send a formal letter to the Morgan County Commissioners about several complaints regarding two Mooresville Plan Commission members. Councilman Cook is in favor of sending the letter. Councilman Williams withdrew his support for the letter as he believes the point to be moot now that so much time has passed. Councilman Cook made a motion to continue with the letter. Councilman Swinney seconded motion carried 4-1 Councilman Williams opposed. Councilman Stanley stated he would like to start a discussion about creatinga a town manager position, Council President Warthen expressed his agreement with Councilman Cook's statements regarding the current leadership at the Police department. Councilman Stanley also expressed gratitude to Councilman Cook for his stance on the current issue at the police department. The next regular scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at 6:30 P. M. at the Mooresville Government center There being no further business to come before the Council, Councilman Stanley made a motion to adjourn with a second from Councilman Swinney.
