He raised issues with an officer's wife being, <br />what he perceived, an essential part of the decision-making at a department meeting to discuss <br />the K-9 unit. Councilman Cook expressed his concern at his ability to continue to serve as the <br />liaison and the decision by the department to allow an officer with only one year and seven <br />months experience on the force to be a K-9 handler. He believes the department is showing <br />disrespect to the town council. <br />Councilman Williams directed members of the public interested in signing up to volunteer at <br />the 200th celebration to QR cards at the end of table. <br />Councilman Stanley requested permission to send a formal letter to the Morgan County <br />Commissioners about several complaints regarding two Mooresville Plan Commission <br />members. <br />Councilman Cook is in favor of sending the letter. <br />Councilman Williams withdrew his support for the letter as he believes the point to be moot <br />now that so much time has passed. <br />Councilman Cook made a motion to continue with the letter. Councilman Swinney seconded <br />motion carried 4-1 Councilman Williams opposed. <br />Councilman Stanley stated he would like to start a discussion about creatinga a town manager <br />position, <br />Council President Warthen expressed his agreement with Councilman Cook's statements <br />regarding the current leadership at the Police department. <br />Councilman Stanley also expressed gratitude to Councilman Cook for his stance on the current <br />issue at the police department. <br />The next regular scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be held on Tuesday, <br />November 16, 2021, at 6:30 P. M. at the Mooresville Government center <br />There being no further business to come before the Council, Councilman Stanley made a <br />motion to adjourn with a second from Councilman Swinney.
