1691 <br />Public Comments — <br />Braxton Hughes came before the Council to make a statement about the Canine unit meeting <br />referenced earlier. He stated that the forum was run by Chief Julian and not by an officer's wife. <br />He relayed his experience at the meeting and his observations and correspondence with <br />Councilman Cook that did not address any of the questions he asked. He also voiced his support <br />of the Landheim kennel and his objections to other kennels. He did not understand the friction <br />with Councilman Cook about the issue of the Canine unit and confirmed with Councilman Cook <br />that Councilman Cook had not been a canine handler or a member of the canine unit. <br />Councilman Stanley made the Motion to approve claims for $777,460.48. Councilman Swinney <br />seconded. Motion carried 5-0 <br />Town Council Comments— <br />Councilman Cook reiterated his stance on the canine unit. He believes the Council should be <br />good stewards of the taxpayer's dollars and does not believe at the moment that the canine <br />unit would be a good resource for those dollars in its current form. <br />Ordinance 5-2016 clarification - Councilman Williams asked for clarification on this ordinance <br />from the Legal Council on internal controls for Town assets. It has come to his attention that <br />there may be several keys to government centers that are not accounted for and that it is time <br />to rekey.the government buildings. Town Attorney Lee stated that the ordinance was intended <br />to keep track of authorized and unauthorized access to municipal assets and that the situation <br />does need to be assessed as to who has keys to the government buildings and whether or not <br />they have authorized access or unauthorized access. <br />Councilman Williams received a call from the Planning Commission chairman and Commissioner <br />Adams that, as of Friday, neither of them had received the letter chastising the planning <br />commission that had been approved. <br />Councilman Stanley stated that the letter is in possession of the county's Planning Commission <br />Administrator. He also wished everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! <br />The next regular scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be held on Tuesday, <br />December 7, 2021, at 6:30 P. M. at the Mooresville Govern mentCcenter <br />There being no further business to come before the Council at this time, a motion to adjourn <br />was made by Councilman Cook with a second from Councilman Stanley.
