ash, '16,
7
Citizens of Mooresville and members of the Council,
I would first like to start out by apologizing for missing this meeting with very important agenda
items! My job has me working during the hours of this meeting and there was noway to get
around that. With that being said, I will keep this brief but wanted this letter read to address
some items. I understand this is not a vote due to my absence, but merely a statement of my
beliefs on the agenda items.
Agenda item A: regarding the discussion of the town manager. I have made comments in the
past that a town manager makes for a lazy town board. As we continue to move down today's
paths, 1 realize that possibly a town manager could sometimes help us, and I am not closed
minded towards this. This will take much planning and discussion but at this time I am not
ready to commit to the town manager position.
Agenda item B: regarding the year end APV reconciliation. I am well aware that this is a black
eye for our clerk's office and our board. I would support an audit to be conducted by the
State Board of Accounts to ensure this does not happen again.
Agenda item E: in regards to board appointments, I have made it clear in previous meetings
that we as a board, should follow our own rules. I have reached out to all parties involved and
reassured them that this will not happen again. I have endorsed a letter prepared, by our
attorney, in favor of removing the two council appointments on the redevelopment board, and
following or own rules moving forward.
Sincerely,
Jeff Cook
Mooresville Town Council
1/28/2022
