like to donate dogs to the k-9 program, and someone will assess the dogs to ensure they are <br />appropriate for what is needed by the department. <br />Dave Moore gave an update on the South Torch. There are a couple of weeks left in leaf season, <br />and the trucks are ready to go for winter. He thanked the council on behalf of his department <br />for the work the council put in on the salary ordinance. Councilman Swinney asked about <br />bridge inspections as the county will soon no longer maintain the bridges. Dave has performed <br />some inspections and noticed that the bridge on Washington Street is in dire need of repair and <br />he will be contacting the county. Councilman Williams made a point of commending the street <br />department employee who suggested a possible solution to the torch lighting. <br />Kris Wilson gave an update on the old town park restrooms, as they should be delivered in late <br />winter. She voiced her appreciation of the street department handling the demolition of the old <br />restrooms. There is a Park Board Works session on November 30th at 1 PM to hopefully carve <br />out the direction of the department for the next years. She announced that the 2023 Old <br />Settlers will take place August 3 - 6, 2023. <br />Legal — <br />Council President Warthen requested Legal to review the bid procedure from Trane on the <br />HVAC systems that need to be repaired or replaced. He also asked the council to consider <br />having legal counsel draft a resolution stating that the current districts are fair and equal, as the <br />most recent census showed a growth of only 85 people. Councilman Williams made a motion to <br />move forward with the drafting of the resolution. Councilman Stanley seconded. Motion carried <br />5-0. <br />Public Comments — <br />There were none <br />Approval to pay claims — <br />Councilman Swinney motioned to approve claims in the amount of $1,677,956.72. Councilman Stanley <br />seconded. Motion carried 5-0 <br />Town Council Comments — <br />Councilman Cook reiterated his appreciation for the work that was put in on the salary ordinance <br />Councilman Williams echoed Councilman Cook's appreciation. He also mentioned that on November <br />17th, from 5 PM to 7 PM, there is an open house for the comprehensive plan at the Mooresville Public <br />Library Community Room A & B. <br />Councilman Swinney voiced his appreciation for the work put in on the salary ordinance. <br />Councilman Stanley reiterated his appreciation for the work on the salary ordinance. Councilman <br />Stanley presented flags that were flown over the United States Capitol in honor of the Town of <br />Mooresville one for the Police Department, one for the Fire Department, and one for the Government <br />Center to be displayed. <br />Council President Warthen voiced his appreciation for the comments. <br />The next regular scheduled meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be held on Tuesday, December <br />6, 2022 at 6:30 P. M. at the Mooresville Government Center. <br />With no further business to come before the council at this time, Councilman Williams motioned to <br />adjourn with a second from Councilman Swinney. Motion carried 5-0. <br />
