HTNB Sewer Plant Improvement Diffuser -Calvin Boultbee, acting superintendent, proposed installing a <br />fine diffuser to allow additional ammonia removal during warm weather. Bid proposals were requested <br />and three were received. <br />Quality Repair Service declined to bid as this is outside their scope of work. <br />Maddox Industrial Group bid $104,875. <br />Ottenweller $106,122, including software programming. <br />Council President Warthen mentioned that the Food and Beverage Fund could be used for wastewater <br />treatment improvements. The council agreed to use the Food and Beverage to fund the project. Calvin <br />Boultbee made the recommendation to award the bid to Ottenweller. <br />Councilman Cook made the motion to approve the bid from Ottenweller. Councilman Brown seconded. <br />Motion passed 5-0. <br />Department Head Reports— <br />Calvin Boultbee from the wastewater treatment plant stated that 5.5M gallons of water were processed <br />through the plant on Friday, and that the improvements that have already been made ensured that the <br />plant remained in compliance even with heavy rains. <br />Chief Buckner gave an update on the police escort of the remains of Sargent Charles Garrigus, who died <br />in the Korean War and whose remains were received from North Korea that evening. The Town of <br />Mooresville Police department participated in the escorting of his remains to the Jones Family mortuary. <br />They will also escort his remains after the funeral to his final resting place in Greenwood. <br />Chief Buckner gave an update on the damages sustained to the department building during the recent <br />storms. <br />Chief Dalton stated that the fire department also took part in honoring the life and sacrifice of <br />Sgt. Garrigus. <br />Chief Dalton gave an update on the REMC grant that the department was awarded. He is also working on <br />additional grants. He has two department members who are currently completing their examinations to <br />become paramedics. The Garage doors have been installed and are operating. <br />Keelan Simpson introduced Phil Cornelius, the new Parks Superintendent. Phil stated he is excited to be a <br />part of the department. <br />Legal — <br />There were none. <br />Public Comments <br />There were none. <br />Approval of Claims - <br />Councilman Swinney made the motion to approve payroll clearing claims for $192,444.08. Councilman <br />Brown seconded. Motion carried 5-0. <br />Councilman Swinney motioned to approve payable voucher claims in the amount of $859,746.23 <br />Councilman Brown seconded. Motion carried 5-0. <br />
