The Mooresville Senior Center submitted the contract renewal to the council, requesting a donation of <br />$10,000. Normally, the contract is received annually in February, but the request was received late this <br />year due to unforeseen circumstances. Councilman Swinney motioned to approve the request, with <br />Councilman Brown seconding the motion. Motion Carried 3-0. <br />Department Heads Report - <br />Parks Superintendent Phil Cornelius provided an update on the restroom at Old Town Park. The delivery <br />date for the restroom is scheduled for next week if all goes well. The Fourth of July celebration at,Pioneer <br />Park will include four bands and multiple food trucks. Delivery for the new mowers is scheduled for July <br />10tH <br />Fire Chief Dalton informed the council members that the fire suppression system in the firehouse had <br />malfunctioned, leading to the sprinkler system being charged with water and causing damage to the <br />ceiling. He has already notified Selective Insurance to file an insurance claim for the incident. <br />Public Comments — <br />Rob Samuels appeared before the council to clarify the ACLU dismissal lawsuit against Councilman <br />Williams. He referred to Exhibit B, which was shared with the council members to support his clarification. <br />Mr. Samuels also mentioned that Councilman Williams had instructed taxpayers on Facebook to direct <br />their questions about town business to Rob Samuels, Braxton Hughes, Kacie Schultz, and Mel Perry. <br />Motion for Approval of Claims — <br />Councilma,n Swinney made the motion for approval of claims for $631,528.09. Seconded by Councilman <br />Brown. Motion Carried 3-0. <br />Motion for Approval of Payroll Clearing — <br />Council Swinney made the motion for approval of payroll clearing for $265,242.97. Seconded by <br />Councilman Brown. Motion Carried 3-0. <br />The next regular meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be held on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at 6:30 <br />P.M. at the Mooresville Government Center. <br />There being no further business to come before the council at this time, a motion to adjourn was made by <br />Councilman Swinney with a second from Councilman Brown.
