Chief Dalton gave an update on the lateral transfer candidate. Both doctors gave a favorable <br />recommendation for the conditional offer, and he requested approval from the council to <br />proceed with issuing the conditional offer. There was a discussion about the order of the <br />background check process with a lateral transfer. Cook made a motion to approve the hiring of <br />the employee after the two-week window to comply with perf. Councilman Brown seconded. <br />Motion carried 5-0. <br />Keelan Simpson gave an update on the Old Town Park Playground proposal that should be done <br />by the next Town Council meeting. The hayrides have started. The Halloween Hike and public <br />hayrides will be scheduled for October 28th from 3-5 PM at Pioneer Park. The parks department <br />suggested that the town council look at setting hours for trick or treating. <br />Legal — <br />Town Attorney Lee received additional correspondence from the consortium requesting <br />additional action. He is currently researching what needs to be done about the request. <br />Public Comments — <br />There were none. <br />Councilman Swinney made the motion to approve claims for $942,235.91. Councilman Brown seconded. <br />Motion carried 5-0. <br />Councilman Swinney motioned to approve payroll clearing for $246,369.64, and Councilman Brown <br />seconded. Motion carried 5-0. <br />Town Council Comments — <br />Councilman Williams stated he appreciated Lance Gideon being at the meetings and was happyto see the <br />press return to the meetings. <br />Council President Warthen asked that everyone keep the Currens family in their thoughts and prayers. <br />The next regular meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at <br />6:30 p.m. at the Mooresville Government Center. <br />There being no further business to come before the council at this time a motion to adjourn was made by <br />Councilman Swinney with a second from Councilman Williams.
