4 <br />Approval of Claims — <br />Councilman Swinney made the motion to approve claims for $681,124.35. Councilman Witt <br />seconded. Motion carried 4-0. <br />Approval of Payroll Clearing— <br />Councilman Swinney moved to approve payroll clearing for $258,405.54. Councilman Witt <br />seconded. The motion carried 4-0. - - <br />Town Council Comments — <br />Councilman Cook expressed his concern about tenured public service employees leaving the <br />Town for other municipalities and retiring early due to the town's inabilityto remain competitive with <br />pay. He wants to see the town get creative within the department for scheduling and within the <br />budget. <br />Councilman Cook hears the complaints surrounding the wastewater treatment plant. He is <br />personally connected to someone who may be able to assist with a solution and offers to step <br />aside if needed. Council President Warthen stated he would rather have Councilman Cook <br />involved. <br />The next regular meeting of the Mooresville Town Council will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at <br />6:30 p.m. at the Mooresville Government Center. <br />With no further business to come before the council at this time, Councilman Swinney made a <br />motion to adjourn, which Councilman Witt seconded.
