0 <br />MONTHLY MOORESVILLE PARK BOARD MEETING MINUTES <br />May la. 2024 <br />5.1.1 Upon motion by Danny Lundy, seconded Lynn Adams, the Board voted 5/0 to hire <br />Talesha Freidenfelt for the Recreation Coordinator position. <br />5.2 Pioneer Park Improvement Project - Update <br />5.2.1 The Park staff recently discussed their initial budget with Mejer Najem, their project <br />partner. The initial design presented incurred costs exceeding $10 million, covering all <br />aspects of the project to achieve a turnkey status. Following this meeting; they have <br />been engaging with the project team bi-daily to explore avenues for cost reduction <br />while still meeting most of their project objectives. As a result, they have restructured <br />the project layout from its original form to a newer, more cost-effective configuration. <br />This restructuring has brought their budget estimate closer to $6.8 million. While they <br />have further options to lower costs, they are mindful of maintaining the desired <br />aesthetics and deliverables of the project. The Park Board discussed the changes. <br />5.2.2 Upon motion by Brent Callahan, seconded Danny Shaw, the Board voted 5/0 to have <br />the Building Committee meet before the next Park Board meeting to discuss the <br />changes and get a better understanding of the cost and the efficiency and quality of the <br />final product. <br />5.3 Old Town Park Improvement - Update <br />5.3.1 The Grand Reopening of Old Town Park is scheduled for June 5th, from 11 am to 1 pm. <br />The event aims to showcase recent park improvements and gather community <br />feedback. There will be booths, including the Mooresville 200 booth, to raise awareness <br />about park amenities. The newly renovated merry-go-round will also be unveiled. <br />6. NEW BUSINESS <br />6.1 RFA— Ratify Summer Hiring <br />6.1.1 Upon motion by Brent Callahan, seconded Lynn Adams the Board voted 5/0 to ratify the <br />hiring of all positions listed in the 8.1 pre -meeting agenda. <br />7. DEPARTMENT REPORTS <br />7.1 Assistant Superintendent Report <br />7.1.1 RECU program has been running smoothly. Site coordinators meet regularly to gather <br />feedback on the program and evaluate how they can make improvements. They are <br />focused on getting the kids more involved in the program rather than just observing. <br />
