MONTHLY MOORESVILLE PARK BOARD MEETING MINUTES <br />May 13, 2024 <br />7.1.2 The summer program registration opened on April 1, and they have had an excellent <br />start with a significant number of registrations for various activities. <br />7.1.3 The eclipse event went well, although there were some complaints about charging for <br />parking. Nonetheless, they saw a good turnout and generated revenue from the event. <br />7.1.4 The Junk in the Trunk event was successful, with most vendors in attendance and a <br />steady crowd throughout the event. It seems like this event will need to be repeated <br />soon due to its popularity. <br />7.1.5 The upcoming concert series and other events are also planned, and the staff training <br />for the summer has already taken place. <br />7.1.6 They have been actively hiring staff for the summer, with concessions and camp staff <br />already hired, and they are currently looking to hire additional lifeguards. <br />7.2 Superintendent Report <br />7.2.1 Parks Master Plan Project Update <br />7.2.1.1 Master Plan Website: hups:fin, rdnexrLcaba <br />7.2.2 The Park staff has encountered a significant issue with the chemical balance in the pool, <br />and the deteriorated sand filters pose a safety hazard. Immediate solutions and long-term <br />options for a full system replacement are being explored. This matter has significant financial <br />implications and affects the viability of the community aquatic facility. This serves to inform <br />the board of the urgent need to address these critical issues. Further discussions and <br />decisions will be required as the board navigates the challenge. <br />8. CITIZEN'S COMMENTS <br />Mr. & Mrs. Herington asked how they could get involved with the park. <br />A. Buckner asked about the RECU program and the YMCA. <br />9.
