<br />'- <br /> <br />MOORESVILLE PLAN COMMISSION <br />MINUTES <br />MAY 23, 1996 THURSDAY, 7:30 P.M. <br />MOORESVILLE TOWN HALL <br /> <br />The Mooresville Plan Commission met in regular sessio <br />n on Thursday, May 23, 1996 at 7:30 P. M. at the Mooresville <br />Town Hall. <br /> <br />commission members present were Bill Abbott, Vern <br />Kimmel, Mike Young, Art Raney, and Charles McGuire. Joel <br />Bebee, Tim Cummins, Tim Bennett, and John Ehrhart were <br />absent. <br /> <br />'-- <br /> <br />Motion was made by Art Raney, second by Bill Abbott to <br />approve the minutes of the April 25, 1996 meeting with the <br />exception of the date of the next meeting. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />Steve Holloway, Vice President of the Morgan County <br />Historic Preservation Society, appeared before the Commission <br />on behalf of Holly Lynch owner of the property at 218 East <br />South Street. The Historical Society wants to restore this <br />house. Ms Lynch has had a structural engineer to evaluate <br />the house for structural soundness. The house does not have <br />a lien against it because the insurance ~aid off the <br />mortgage. The Historical Society is wait1ng on two <br />construction bids and Ms Lynch is applying to local financial <br />institutions for loans. After a discussion by the Commission, <br />a motion was made by Bill Abbott, second by Mike Young to <br />allow one week to get the building secured and to receive a <br />letter of assurance from Steve Hoffman, the structural <br />engineer, concerning the buildin~ collapsing. If this does <br />not happen the Plan commission w111 then proceed onward with <br />the enforcement of the Unsafe Building Ordinance. Motion <br />carried 5-0. <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />The owners of Jack's Pizza still have not applied for <br />a variance. Motion was made by Bill Abbott, second by Vern <br />Kimmel for the Plan Commission to proceed with legal action. <br />Motion carried 5-0. <br /> <br />commissioner Charles McGuire reported receiving a <br />letter pertaining to property at 923 S. Johnson Road. The <br />letter stated a possible zoning violation. The owner is <br />Brian Stuart owner of Bright Ideas Electric. The property is <br />zoned R-1. The letter stated employees were meeting and <br />parking there and riding to work, therefore too many cars <br />were parking on Johnson Road. Some commissioners have <br />investigated and have not found a lot of cars parking on <br />Johnson Road. After some discussion motion was made by Bill <br />Abbott, second by Mike Young to reply to the letter written <br />by Norman Taylor stating the Plan commission has investigated <br />and has found no violation of the ordinance.
