April 26, 1993
Page TWo

that was not known or understood at the time, no change should
be effected. A compromise with the plan, again unless
substantial changes have occurred in our community that would
warrant same, we see little reason again to gerrymander
the work that was done just a few short years ago. Personally
we would all like to see the addition of a major food market
alternative to our community. If one makes economic sense we
believe it will occur even if the present site is not rezoned
to accommodate it.

3) Selfishly I suppose, the hospital would prefer not to have
it's property adjoined by a major supermarket facility.
Philosophically I believe public officials in this community
understand the high regard that the hospital has for the
esthetics of our facility. We are committed in our own right
to low utilization of development on the sixty acres that the
hospital enjoys in this community. We place a fairly high
value on the benefit that our physical setting brings to our
business. We believe the current zoning of the real estate in
question (B-2) is consistent with our outlook for land
utilization in the corridor we occupy.

-

For the above noted reasons the Board of Directors of Kendrick
Memorial Hospital concluded unanimously that from their perspective
the Planning Commission should deny the petition for the rezoning
from B-2 to B-3. We respect the very difficult task the Planning
Commission has in issues such as this. We appreciate your
consideration of the hospital's thoughts. ~

ãJ;;J;ärs,

Charles D. Swisher
Executive Director

cc: George T.
