These boundaries were presented on the buffer zone map with Keys Road on the south side and Siideoff Road on the east being pointed out. Horace Adams of the same address thought the buffer zone limit would be two miles. Mr. Tucker explained the Duffer zone limits to him and that they could go up to two miles from the existing town borders. Dan Robinson of 275 State Road 42 spoke next, he stated that he lived in the buffer zone and wanted to know what changes had been made in the zoning maps in his area. In particular he wanted to know whether the land use had been downgraded. Robert Tucker showed the area in question and that under the Comprehensive Plan maps it was shown as agricultural and open space. Prior to this it had been agricultural and the uses '--- were basically the same. Mr. Robinson wanted to know why the area across the highway was zoned residential and the Comprehensive Plan in his area was left in the open space category. He also suggested that some counties zone all land 600 feet deep on a highway as business. He wanted to know whether or not the Plan Commission had considered doing this. Signe Nicholson advised that they had not. He further stated that southwest is one of the few areas that Mooresville had to grow and he wants the ability to rezone his property for higher uses such as residential or business. He felt that the map would keep him from doing this. Signe Nicholson advised him that the map and the contents of the Comprehensive Plan should be interpreted together. Bill Abbott questioned Mr. Robinson as to what area he felt should be zoned agricultural and what areas should be zoned residential in the area. -2-
