Bill Abbott stated that the proposed use was <br /> <br />no heavier zoning than that in the rear of the property and felt <br /> <br /> <br />that it would be compatible. Signe Nicholson stated that by <br /> <br /> <br />allowing general business type of uses in the area that we were <br /> <br /> <br />making a statement towards future zoning. Bill Abbott stated that <br /> <br /> <br />this was not a change of zoning, only a special exception and <br /> <br /> <br />would not have that same effect on the master plan. Steve Edwards <br /> <br /> <br />stated that a variance might be preferable due to the effect on <br /> <br /> <br />the master plan. A discussion then took place regarding the <br /> <br /> <br />special exception procedure and variance procedure. A motion was <br /> <br /> <br />made by William Abbott to recommend to the Board of Zoning Appeals <br /> <br /> <br />a finding that the proposed use was compatible with the master <br /> <br /> <br />plan. This was seconded by Joel Beebe and the vote was 6 in favor <br /> <br /> <br />and 2 opposed, the two parties voting against being Steve Edwards <br /> <br /> <br />and Signe Nicholson. <br /> <br /> <br />Attorney Dave Lawson then appeared before the Board on behalf <br /> <br /> <br />of the Halls and withdrew their petition for rezoning. <br /> <br /> <br />The Board then reviewed the unsafe building ordinance viola- <br /> <br /> <br />tions with all of them being continued due to progress being made. <br /> <br /> <br />Bob Tucker then showed the new zoning maps and Signe <br /> <br /> <br />Nicholson passed out an agenda for the proposed comprehensive plan <br /> <br /> <br />in the buffer zone in town.
