<br />considered and used in deciding whether the present request should be allowed. <br /> <br />" John Winters said he was assured that because the petitioned property was <br /> <br />a low lying area that that would limit the type of uses which would be allowed there. <br /> <br />Bill Abbot responded that no assurances were ever given. <br /> <br />Mr. Winters stated that there was a large unemployment problem already <br /> <br />present and it would be best to leave this land for industrial and business use <br /> <br />to create jobs. <br /> <br />Nancy Northway felt that the additional people in such a complex would create <br /> <br />unneccesary traffic problems. <br /> <br />Bud Crusenberry questioned what was going to happen to the 100 foot section <br /> <br />east of the Citizens Bank property which the petitioners were not going to rezone. <br /> <br />He felt this area was not meant to be residential. <br /> <br />A representative of Wooley Sawmill was present and stressed the same concerns <br /> <br />as Theising Veneer. <br /> <br />Horace Adams felt that $400 a month for a I bedroom apartment was too high and <br /> <br />'- <br /> <br />felt that with such a complex being located so close to a business area that people <br /> <br />interested in renting apartments would not want to pay that amount and that eventually <br /> <br />these apartments would become depressed and low income. He also felt that there <br /> <br />would be a significant run-off problem and that the petitioners had no right to <br /> <br />deprive Ward and Johnson of the continued uninterrupted use of their property. <br /> <br />Allen Tutewiler of Mooresville Block indicated that he has problems already <br /> <br />with a few residents concerning the operation of his business and did not want additional <br /> <br />problems created. Mr. Lawson informed Mr. Johnson that his clients were aware of the <br /> <br />problem and were concerned with correcting any potential problem that might come up. <br /> <br />He further indicated that if the proposed construction did flood them out that his <br /> <br />clients would be legally responsible for any damage. <br /> <br />'-- <br /> <br /> The Hasten's developer stated that any water run-off from the project would <br />stay on the property and would be diverted through controlled outlets so as to leave <br />the premises at the s=e rate as the water run-off leaves it now. <br /> <br />Bill Abbott stated that the zoning classifications do not control the fill <br /> <br />-9- <br />
