MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF METROPOLITAN POLICE COMMISSIONERS <br /> JULY 8, 1999 <br /> <br /> The Town of Mooresville Board of Metropolitan Police Commissioners met duly 8, 1999 with <br />Board members Dr. Dennis Knierim, Dean Kays, Charles Berwick and legal council Timothy C. <br />Currens being present. The meeting was preceded with the pledge of allegiance, then called to <br />order by Dr. Dennis Knierim. <br /> <br /> Dean Kays made motion and was seconded by Charles Berwwk to approve the minutes of the <br />last meeting. <br /> <br /> Under Old Business the Commissioners approved the following S.O.P. 's: <br /> 23.08 Collection & Preservation of Evidence <br /> 23.09 Property & Evidence Control <br /> <br /> 23.10 Disposal of Lost,, Found or Unclaimed Property <br /> <br /> 30.00 Firearms Policy <br /> <br /> Dean Kays questioned if there was a policy covering weapons during off duty hours. Tim Viles <br /> <br />advised that it was part of the lesson plan, but would like to see the Officers provided with a <br />lockable safety box or trigger lock for their issued weapons when off duty. <br /> <br /> Chief Viles updated the progress of Officers Cook and Rogers, who are at the Academy. deft <br /> Cook will graduate on the 23rd, and wili proceed into the F. T.O. program.. Randy Rogers will be <br /> out on August 20th. Matt Williams will enter into the Academy shortly thereafter. <br /> <br /> The hiring process has been delayed because of scheduling problems, but should still have <br /> interviews ready for the Commissioners by September. <br /> <br /> Budget Calenders from the Town Clerk were given to the Commissioners. Preliminary Budgets <br /> for advertising have been submitted. <br /> <br /> Under New Business, Dean Kays requested Chief Vales look at upgrading the duvenile Officer <br /> to Sergeant, and adding the Narcotic duties to the position. <br /> <br /> <br />
