<br />t' <br /> <br />.- <br /> <br />c <br /> <br />c <br /> <br />c <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF METROPOLITAN POLICE COMMISSIONERS <br />APRIL 20, 2000 <br /> <br />The Town of Moores vi lie Board of Metropolitan Police Commissioners met April 20, 2000 with <br /> <br />Board members Dr. Dennis Knierim, Dean Kays, Charles Berwick and legal council Timothy C. <br /> <br />Currens being present. The meeting was preceded by the pledge of allegiance, then called to <br /> <br />order by Dr. Dennis Knierim. <br /> <br />Charles Berwick made motion and was seconded by Dean Kays to approve the minutes of the <br /> <br />March meeting. <br /> <br />Old Business: <br /> <br />A meeting was set for May 4th at 70 'clock at the Police Department for discussion of the Five <br /> <br />Year Plan. <br /> <br />Charles Paxton gave an overview of the Chaplain Program. All Commissioners expressed <br /> <br />appreciation of the services provided <br /> <br />Chief Viles gave an update on the Reserve Program, advising the Ordinance is now in place, <br /> <br />and that Larry Bryant is attending the Reserve School this week. The Swearing in Ceremony will <br /> <br />be tenativelyat 11 0 'clock Monday. April 24th at the Police Department. <br /> <br />New Business: <br /> <br />Dr. Knierim suggested starting a new hiring process. Dean Kays concern was losing <br /> <br />the grant money if it is not used by January 1st. He advised that October J is the last class at <br /> <br />the Academy for this year, and that the Town Council supports not losing the Grant. Tim Currens <br /> <br />stated that the Council will need to know by June for budgeting. Chief Viles advised it should take <br /> <br />no more than three months to complete the process. Discussion followed on possible changes in <br /> <br />the hiring process. Dean Kays made motion and was seconded by Charles Berwick to advertise <br /> <br />the second week of May that the Department would accept resumes, using the same hiring <br /> <br />process. <br /> <br />Tim Currens gave the Commissioners a packett with information about ownership of the <br /> <br />; <br /> <br /> <br />-j <br />
