470 <br /> <br /> The Mooresville Town Council met following this process. Council members present were: <br /> Andy Pygman, John L. Clark, Tom Warthen, Toby Dolcn, and Mark Mathis. No members xvere <br /> absent. Town attorney Tim Currens was also present. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Councilman Clark, second by Councilman Dolcn to approve minutes of <br /> December 21, 1999 meeting. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> <br /> Councilman Dolen nominated Mark Mathis for l~rcsident, John L. Clark seconded the motion. <br /> Motion carried 4-1 with Councilman Pygman opposed. <br /> <br /> Mr. and Mrs. Mead appeared before the Council requesting rezone of property on South Street <br /> next to Wooleys Sawmill from R-1 to R-2. Mooresvilic Plan Com~nission had recommended to <br /> the Town Council to deny the rezone. This decision for the Town Council is tabled to January <br /> 18,2000. <br /> <br /> Councilman Pygrnan told the Council he had a letter that had been sent to the Lions Club <br /> concerning moving Old Settlers from Old Town Park to Pioneer Park. The Council did not have <br /> knowledge of this and asked for a copy of the letter for each councilman and attorney Tim <br /> Currens. <br /> <br /> Fire Chief, Les Farmer, commended his depart~ncnt tbr their ctlbrts in fighting four structural <br /> fires in the past week. In a fire downtown two people were injured, but saved by the fire <br /> department. Attorney Ross Stovall told the Council he was a beneficiary of the Fire <br /> Departments efforts and said the investment in eqt, ipmcnt proved to be a good decision. <br /> <br /> Street Commissioner, Joe Beikman, asked Council ~netnbcrs for their lists of sidewalks and <br /> streets that are in need of repair. <br /> <br /> President Mark Mathis set an executive session tbr Friday, January 7, 2000, at 5:30 P. M. at the <br /> Mooresville Town Hall. Purpose: acquisition of real property. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Councilman Warthen, second by Councihnan Dolen to approve payment of <br /> claims. Motion carded 5-0. <br /> <br /> There being no further bt~siness to come before the Town Council at this time, motion was made <br /> by Councilman Dolen, second by Councilman Clark to adjourn the meeting Motion carried 5-0. <br /> <br /> The next regular scheduled meeting of the Moorcsville Town Council is Tuesday, January 18, <br /> 2000, at 6:30 P.
