President Warthen said he was impressed with the outstanding work she had <br />accomplished and with her appointment as a Student Ambassador. He did not feel the <br />Town could sponsor her with taxpayer money, but would support her efforts. <br /> <br />Next A1 Hornaday, Brown Township Trustee, stated two weeks ago he came before the <br />Board with a proposal for ambulance service for the Town of Mooresville. With 57% of <br />the ambulance runs coming from the town he felt the town should help support the <br />service. Councilman Pygman asked if the town now paid an extra $100.00 pre mn over <br />what Brown Township residents outside of town pay, and if that $100.00 would be <br />dropped if the town now furnished funds to the service. Mr. Hornaday said that the extra <br />fee would be dropped. President Warthen stated that Lifestar does a great service, as will <br />as all the other town Department, for the community. Mr. Warthen stated that it had been <br />said the town. does not help support the ambulance service. He said the town residents <br />did pay over $96,625.00, which went into the General Fund that helps support the fire <br />and ambulance service. He was asked to specify that, and ask if they didn't pay their <br />PERF from the general fund. Mr. Hornaday said that they did. Councilman Mathis said <br />the Police Department furnishes the dispatcher for all the ambulance mn, which the town <br />has 57%. On the weekends we sometime have to have two dispatchers to cover the calls. <br />The budget for the dispatchers cost the town around $167,000.00, which the residents of <br />Mooresville only fund that budget. The Mooresville Police Department had about 310 <br />agency assist runs outside, of which around 220 were in Brown Township helping the <br />Morgan County Sheriffs Department. The town did not receive any funds to help cover <br />the cost of those 220 runs. <br /> <br />Councilman Pygrnan, second by Councilman Clark, made a motion to give to Brown <br />Township in the amount of $75,000.00 for ambulance service eliminating the $100.00 <br />surcharge for one year. Councilman Dolen amended the motion to say if the money is <br />available to be appropriated. President Warthen read the motion for $75,000.00 contract <br />with Brown Township for ambulance service for one year, subject to the elimination of <br />the $100.00 surcharge to the residents of Mooresville, there is money to appropriate, and <br />be approved by the State Board of Accounts. Motion carried 3-0 with Mr. Mathis and <br />Mr. Warthen opposed. <br /> <br /> The Council .will discuss this with the Clerk/Treasurer and give Mr. Hornaday their <br /> answer at the next Council meeting. <br /> <br /> Police Department reported they had hired Elizabeth Reener as their part-time clerk and <br /> she was doing a great job. The police car that was damaged is now repaired and back in <br /> service. <br /> <br /> Fire Department reported the sirens are now working and that the Commissioners and the <br /> Fire Chief have had their first meeting to discuss the building of a new Fire Station. <br /> <br /> Animal Control Officer reported 21 calls, 4 impounds and 3 returns. <br /> <br />Councilman Clark. second by Councilman Dolen, made a motion to approve the payment <br />of claims.
